We are excited to share an opportunity with you to help make a difference in your community and become an Everyday Hero! You can help by running/walking/cycling/yoga-ing/strength training, or meditating and raising money for Prosperity Connection in the Financial + Fitness Challenge, a virtual competition open over the summer months, July 8 - September 2, 2020.
Money raised from the Financial + Fitness Challenge will fund important free programs such as our monthly financial education seminars (now accessible to all online!) and one-on-one financial coaching sessions with our expert staff.
The goal for this challenge is to raise a total of $25,000 through individuals, teams and sponsorships!
You can track everything that you give – from your voice (social media posts and shares) to your effort (the time you spend fundraising and the minutes or miles you log) to the money you raise.
Every little bit counts to help create financial equity in your community.
REGISTER NOW AND START FUNDRAISING
1. Register for the Financial + Fitness Challenge as an Individual or a Team using the Start Fundraising or Register prompts on this page
2. You'll be taken to a new window to setup your fundraising page.
3. Choose a fundraising goal and add other initial information. The default is $250, but that may be changed to your preference.
4. You'll receive a welcome email (Subject: Your fundraising page is live) and tips on how to complete your new Supporter Page information.
5. Click on the Edit My Page button
6. Choose your fitness goal path under Page Options:
- Total Miles (bike, walk, run, etc.)
- Total Fitness Minutes*
*Note: The everydayhero fundraising platform only allows for mile goal setting and tracking, but you can add your Minutes goal to your Personal Story. Prosperity Connection recognizes that fitness comes in many forms and that people in our community have different abilities and interests.

7. Start tracking your miles/minutes with 2 options:
- You can track on your own (honor system)
- The everydayhero platform can be connected with 3 fitness apps (see below).

8. Share with friends and family on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
Once you're in the game, follow along for updates throughout including Leaderboard stats, free Excel Center virtual classes with tips such as Healthy Eating On A Budget and Mindfulness & Money! Share your photos and progress with us and we will boost your "wins".
Lastly, our top fundraisers in the Individual and Team categories will not only compete for fame, but special recognition and prizes!
Registration is open starting 6/29 and remains open for sign up until 8/31. The fundraising clock starts on 7/8. The challenge goes until 9/2, but you can continue collecting funds on your page until 9/9, if you've got open pledges to fulfill.
More About Prosperity Connection
Founded in 2009 by the Board of Directors of St. Louis Community Credit Union, Prosperity Connection offers FREE group classes and one-on-one financial coaching that focuses on core financial subjects, which include: budgeting, saving, and credit. Our educators extend this base of knowledge to include a broader range of topics, such as avoiding identity theft, the pitfalls of predatory lending, saving for college, building wealth, and more.
The model for delivering financial classes, coaching, and connections to appropriate products relies on strong partnerships with social service agencies and access points for service through our Excel Center network. In 2012, we opened the first of four Excel Centers to serve as destination points for financial empowerment. We now have locations in Pagedale (part of the 24:1 Community Initiative), St. John, Old North (St. Louis City), and South City (at Gravois & Oregon) to reach more people where they live and work. Seminars and one-on-one coaching sessions take place both day and evening, as well as on the weekend to meet the needs of busy families.
In 2016, Prosperity Connection identified a gap in accessible, affordable banking products and services within traditional financial institutions. We opened our first of two RedDough Money Center store in Pagedale, MO. RedDough operates as a social enterprise, offering small-dollar loans (an average of $300), check cashing, reloadable debit cards, and more, all at below payday loan store rate prices. Prosperity Connection, via RedDough, is not only offering a competitive alternative to payday loans, but it is also disrupting the payday lending market and saving consumers hundreds of dollars per loan. Traditional payday lenders expect full payment within two weeks. RedDough's loans are repaid over an average of 4 to 6 months.
Perhaps the most critical component of our innovative financial solution is that RedDough was designed to work in conjunction with our financial education and coaching offered next door at the Excel Center (at 2 locations, Pagedale and South City). Known collectively as the Wealth Accumulation Center, we are there to ensure not only that people can get the help they need in the short term but to provide guidance and opportunities for the future.
